I use this flashlight for duty use. I have tried other lights. They're not bright enough, too many modes, bump a button now you're in dim mode (not great as you're approaching a car in the dark), too big, etc. This light is a good size, very bright, and it has two modes. On and off. Which is what I personally want in a flashlight. It's a good size for me to use with a firearm, if needed. I bough a second one for a family member. It works great for personal use as well. Be warned, it may be TOO bright for up close use. They have used it for other things and have said it actually reflects and is too bright.l when up close and trying to use it to see into things (car repairs).
